Vacancy: International WILPF office, applications close 15 July 2001. Position vacant: Secretary General, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, International WILPF Office, Geneva. Closing date for applications: 15 July 2001. WILPF was founded in 1915 during the first world war, when more than 1200 women gathered from belligerent and neutral countries to protest the war and to work for conditions in which a permanent peace could be constructed. WILPF aims to bring together women who oppose war, violence, exploitation and all forms of discrimination and oppression, and who wish to work together to bring about peace based on economic and social justice for all., without discimination. We have national sections on five continents. WILPF seeks a woman who shares our vision, aims and principles, is self-motivated, energetic and hard working, to fill the position of Secretary General at our international office in Geneva, Switzerland. There she will work collegially in a multicultural team, valuing the importance of every-day tasks, as well as initiating and contributing to developing and implementing policy and programme, co-ordinating activities and maintaining links with the national sections, preparing international WILPF meetings, representing the organization at the United Nations and in the international NGO community as required. Desired qualifications include but are not limited to:
- an ability to lead and also participate in team-work, work effectively with women of different ages coming from different political, cultural and philosophical backgrounds; Salary and benefits are in line with conditions prevailing among NGOs similar to WILPF and within Swiss legal requirements.
