Some of our people

Talking 'bout the war to a neighbour of mine
We agreed the situation was far from fine
and you know, she said, what really gives me a scare
- I hear some of our people are stuck over there

It was on TV so it must be true
Some of our people like me and you
You can only hope that the bombs don't fall
on any of some of our people at all

Some of our people, just like us
we should be making a lot more fuss
some of our people's in the bomber's range
it's time for the situation to change

Now how can you tell who is some of our folks
do they drink the same beer and tell the same jokes
do they wear the same neckties and aftershave
I reckon you can tell a much easier way

If they got two hands and a heart in the middle
Tap their foot to a drum or a fiddle
Black, white, fat, or skinny as a steeple
I reckon they must be some of our people.

Some of our people, just like us
we should be making a lot more fuss
some of our people's in the bomber's range
it's time for the situation to change

Iraq, Afghanistan, East Timor,
Maybe Saint Peter is keeping the score
Saying Lordy lord as he switches off the light
Some more of our people got it tonight.

Some of our people, just like us
we should be making a lot more fuss
some of our people's in the bomber's range
it's time for the situation to change
