Development Cooperation Division Closing date 5.00 pm Wednesday 12 January 1999. In support of the joint New Zealand/Australia 'Community Policing Project on Bougainville' we are seeking a Project Administration Officer (PAO). The position is located in Buka town, Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. The PAO will be primarily responsible for providing office management, financial support and logistics for the police project in Bougainville. The officer will be directly responsible to the New Zealand team leader. We are seeking an individual who has a thorough understanding of, and practical experience in, office management, logistics and training. Developing country experience is essential. We are looking for a person with a demonstrated capacity to work under difficult conditions with minimal supervision, with the ability to be flexible and adaptable. It is envisaged you will have experience in office management systems, financial management, office information technology - particularly IT based accounting, logistics/purchasing, aid project reporting, human resource development, cross cultural communications - preferably skilled in Tok Pisin, and experience in working and living in Melanesia - preferably Bougainville and/or Papua New Guinea. You will also have demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, NZODA Guiding Principles, technology and skills transfer, and gender and development issues. Excellent communication skills, self reliance and a high standard of problem solving ability are essential. This position is for a minimum of six months, with preference given to candidates available for up to twelve months.
