• TUESDAY 20 April, ACTION ON EAST TIMOR ! East Timorese students from Massey University will be in Wellington to meet with the Prime Minister, Members of Parliament and the media to discuss the escalating violence in East Timor and what the NZ government can do about it. There will be probably be a luchtime briefing meeting with NGOs, we will send a confirmatory email to our Wellington list tomorrow morning with details.

  BOMBING IS NOT A SOLUTION - The NATO bombing of Yugoslavia has worsened the humanitarian disaster in the Balkans, provoked further atrocities and greatly increased regional instability. Add your voice to those of people around the world calling for an end to the bombing - as the first step towards starting to build lasting peace in the region.

• FRIDAY, 7 May, ‘Other ways of knowing’, an evening with John Broomfield, 7.30pm at Wellington Study Group Building, 31 Hobson Crescent, koha entry. John Broomfield, Ph.D., is the author of Other Ways Of Knowing: Recharting Our Future With Ageless Wisdom (Inner Traditions/Tandem Books). He brings to the workshop a wealth of experience in cultures around the world, including study with Native American, Basque, Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu teachers. He also brings insights from years spent close to nature in the Californian Sierras, the Himalayas and the New Zealand bush, where he now lives.

  The Revolting Artists Collective have organised an exhibition of protest art to coincide with the APEC forum meeting in Christchurch and the presentation of the Roger Award for the worst multi-national. Our art is a mix of graphic art, cartooning, sculpture, painting, screenprinting and mixed media. It's a response to the devastating effects of Free-Trade and New Right policies and an attempt to preserve and display some of the protest-related artwork.
