Money is the root of all evil? Money makes the world go round? Yes and no to both. Clearly money is at its most destructive time in history. Yet like all inventions money has the potential to help us live sustainably. At the seminar, there will be short presentations on how debt-based financing is destructive of all nations; the real value and latent potential of money; ethical investments; universal basic income; community banking; and complementary systems both for business (eg. WIR, Bartercard) and communities (eg. Green $, Toronto $, Ithaca Hours). There will be a panel discussion and discussion groups on reform of the present system and on complementary systems. The speakers are Alan Fricker, Roland Sapsford, Prue Hyman, Bruce Dyer, and Deirdre Kent. If you are particularly interested in Latin America, make a point of seeing Ana Woolf's (Argentina) new show 'Las Lagrimas / After the Tears', about Madres de Plaza de Mayo (the Mothers of the Disappeared) ... or Lucy Bolanos and Teatro La Mascara (Colombia) 'Los Perfiles de la Espera' also about the disappeared ... From Former Yugoslavia, Dah Teatar (Belgrade) are not to be missed - as the programme says "they present theatre that has been devised and rehearsed against the background of civil war. Despite the war in Yugoslavia, Dah Teatar chose not to work in exile - but to stay put and make performances that are wise and compassionate."
