- If you were involved with the Waihopai Women’s Camps in 1988-89 or 1994, and would like to contribute towards research / donate photos or materials to be archived / answer a questionnaire, please contact: June Gregg, Waihopai Women’s Research, PO Box 2586, Christchurch, or c/o PMA Office. This project has two aspects : one to contribute towards June’s research for a Master’s thesis; secondly is to bring together an archive so that this part of women’s protest heritage is preserved.

CHRISTCHURCH

• 25 July - Power Vigil by Candlelight (Social Services Sunday), all parishioners in the Christchurch Diocese are asked, on the night of Social Services Sunday, July 25, 1999, to reduce their power consumption where possible, for the evening. As part of this, parishioners are also asked to replace their electric lighting with candles for this special evening as a shared silent vigil witness with other parishioners.

  Parishioners are asked to do this as part of their shared action to tell Southpower that its recent 13% increase in power charges is not acceptable, especially for the many on low and very reduced incomes.
