Tibet Day events, 10 March 2000 Friday 10 March is 'Tibet Uprising Day' - in commemoration of the massacre of thousands of Tibetans in Lhasa in 1959 and of the 1.2 million Tibetans who have died as a direct result of the Chinese occupation; and in support of their continuing non-violent opposition to the occupation. * AUCKLAND - 6-30pm - memorial service at the Cenotaph Auckland War Memorial, please bring flowers and / or candles. *WELLINGTON - 7-30am to 9-30am - rally outside the Chinese Embassy, 2-6 Glenmore Street, Thorndon. * NELSON - 7-30pm - quiet gathering on the Church Steps, Trafalgar St, contact tel Mary (03) 546 8534. * CHRISTCHURCH - the film showing has been postponed, so don't go to it ! All organised by local Friends of Tibet branches.
