A printable poster for this event is available here. 19 August 2008 Waihopai Ploughshares activist Adrian Leason is organising a MEGA Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall to raise funds for the reconstruction of Iraq and Afghanistan. Target for fundraising is USD $80 billion. Quoting L.V. Martin (and Son) Mr Leason said, “It’s the putting right that counts.” When faced with global humanitarian crisis, New Zealanders have always given generously. Right now there is suffering on an enormous scale - reliable international sources estimate one million dead in Iraq and Afghanistan and millions more displaced. Conservative estimates put the costs of infrastructure reconstruction alone in Iraq and Afghanistan at USD $80 billion. All funds raised from this event will be given to the New Zealand Red Cross to aid with the rebuilding work they have begun in these devastated regions.
